Istanbul University adalah Universitas negeri tertua sekaligus terkemuka di Turki yang terletak di Istanbul. Kampus utamanya bersebelahan dengan Beyazıt Square di Fatih, ibukota distrik provinsi, Kota yang berada di bagian sisi benua Eropa, dan memiliki banyak program studi. Beberapa program unggulan di universitas ini termasuk kedokteran, teologi, hukum, hingga ilmu politik. Universitas Istanbul memiliki beberapa kampus yang tersebar di seluruh provinsi Istanbul.
Universitas yang memiliki motto “The Bridge of Knowledge from History to the Future” telah berdiri sejak 1453. Universitas ini memiliki 22 fakultas, 8 sekolah pascasarjana, 16 lembaga, 5 departemen, 20 Pusat Penelitian dan Aplikasi di bawah Rektorat, dan 37 Penelitian dan Pusat Aplikasi di bawah fakultas.
Terdapat lebih dari 108.000 mahasiswa yang belajar di Universitas Istanbul dengan ditunjang lebih kurang 15.000 staff administrasi dan akademik.
